This course covers the GAAP that applies when a governmental entity annually prepares and publishes a financial report. At a minimum, that report includes basic financial statements, which are supplemented with information that GAAP deems essential. The report covers all funds and activities of the primary government and its component units. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to: Enumerate the general requirements for a government’s comprehensive annual financial report; Identify the basic financials statements (and notes) that apply government-wide and to individual funds; List supplementary information required and distinguish between information that precedes and information that follows the basic financial statements; and Explain the topics required to be discussed as management’s discussion and analysis of financial activities.
