The focus of this course is on forms in the 5500 series. The IRS, Department of Labor (DOL), and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) jointly developed the Form 5500 Series for employee benefit plans (including qualified retirement plans) to use in satisfying annual reporting requirements under Title I and Title IV of ERISA and under the Internal Revenue Code. Upon completing this course, you should be able to: Determine when a Form 5500 must be filed; Discuss how to request an extension of time to file Forms 5500 and the related rules; Explain what penalties apply for a failure to timely file a Form 5500
