COSO Internal Control: Integrated Framework 2012

Authored by Perry M. Henderson, CPA, MPA
About this Course

The COSO Internal Control—Integrated Framework is being updated to keep it relevant in the present and future world of business; emphasize its relevance beyond financial reporting; and make it easier to use.

This update is expected to enable organizations to adapt to increasing complexity and the pace of change, to mitigate risks to the achievement of their objectives, and to provide reliable information to support sound decision making.

The Framework's five core components remain unchanged but the update codifies the five original components into 17 principles, and 81 underlying attributes.

After taking this course, the reader should be able to:

Define internal control according to the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission's Internal Control—Integrated Framework
  • Explain the significance of the components, principles, and attributes of the Framework
  • Recognize specific principles and attributes associated with the Framework's components
