About this Course
This course addresses the various energy sources and technologies used in electricity production, the characteristics and costs of each type of generation currently in use, and how the various generation types are sued to serve customer loads. This course is also included in the Electric System Fundamentals learning path.
- List and define key quantities used in discussing generation
- Define the three ways that electricity is created in the electric grid
- Identify the types of devices that create electricity and differentiate between how they create electricity
- Classify the key generation technologies in use today through descriptions of how they work
- Differentiate between the key characteristics for each key generation technologies
- Analyze generation characteristics to determine how various types of generation technologies are utilized to serve customer loads on a grid
