This course explains the basic characteristics of electricity and electric circuits as well as the numerous qualitative and quantitative terms used to describe electricity.
Learning Objectives
List the basic principles behind how electricity works and recall the useful forms of energy produced by the flow of electricity
Differentiate between the characteristics of AC and DC power to explain why AC power is widely used in electrical systems
Define a variety of terms used to measure characteristics of electricity including voltage, current resistance, and power;Apply Ohm’s Law and Watt’s Law to determine the basic relationships between voltage, current, resistance, power and power factor
Define what an electrical circuit is and list the key components that comprise a circuit
